Description

Rome House is an early 19th-century building located on the northwest side of High Street. It features two parallel ranges and is constructed of brown brick, standing two storeys tall with attics. The building has two dormers and a brick modillion eaves cornice, with the bricks inserted diagonally so that the points protrude. There are five sash windows, although the glazing bars are missing, and two Neo-Georgian bow windows have been added on the ground floor. A large late 19th-century porch with iron columns enhances the entrance. The side elevation includes sections made of stone rubble with flint galleting. Rome House and its stable building are part of a group.
