Description
The Barley Mow is a public house, now a house, located next to another house on the left. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and is constructed of painted brick, with the left gable end being tile-hung. The building has a plain tile roof and is set at a slight angle to the adjacent house, No. 12. It is two storeys high and features a dentilled brick eaves cornice. Both buildings have hipped roofs, with No. 12 having a left hip that returns. There is a central rear stack for No. 12 and two rear stacks for the Barley Mow. The windows are arranged irregularly, with five sash windows in open boxes; No. 12 has two 8-pane windows, while the Barley Mow has three 16-pane windows. The ground-floor windows of the Barley Mow have segmental heads, and No. 12 features a ground-floor shop window. There is a half-glazed door with a flat hood on brackets at the left end of No. 12 and a similar door located left of centre on the Barley Mow. The interior has not been inspected.
