Description
Brook House is a house dating from the 17th century or earlier. It has a timber-framed structure with a front elevation made of red and grey brick in Flemish bond and a plain tile roof. The main range is 1½ storeys high and sits on a galletted stone plinth, while the cross-wing, which projects slightly to the right, is 2 storeys tall. The roof of the main range is hipped to the left, and the cross-wing has a hipped roof at the front, featuring higher eaves and a lower ridge than the main range. There is a brick stack on the front slope of the roof towards the right end of the main range, and a hipped dormer is present on the main range. The windows are arranged irregularly, with one 3-light metal casement on the first floor of the wing. The ground floor of the left end of the main range features a 19th or 20th-century canted bay window with a moulded cornice, while the ground floor of the wing has a 3-light wooden casement with a segmental head. The entrance includes a plain studded door with two top lights and a segmental head located under the stack. There are short rear wings on both the left and right sides. The interior has not been inspected. The building is referred to as Bank House on the Ordnance Survey map.
