Description

This barn, located about 34 yards west of Honeywood Farmhouse, dates from the late 15th century or earlier. It features a timber frame set on a stone plinth, with weatherboarding on the left and rear sides. The right elevation and gable end facing the road are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, and the roof is covered with plain tiles. The barn is positioned at right angles to the road, with a half-hipped roof at the front and a hipped roof at the rear. A 20th-century porch with boarded doors and a lean-to roof is situated in the center of the left elevation, while boarded loading doors face the street.

Inside, the barn consists of four timber-framed bays, with a midstrey located in the third bay from the rear. It is aisled on each side. The road end bay has been rebuilt, and most of the wall studding has been replaced. There are three pairs of principal posts resting on wooden cills, featuring curved passing shores that connect the cills to the tops of the posts. The posts have heavy gunstock jowls, long arch braces, and straight tie-beams. The plain crown-posts are supported by two upward and two downward braces, and the collars are lapped. The posts are tall and of large scantling, and the roof is steeply pitched.
