Description

TR 03 SW BILSINGTON NEWCHURCH ROAD (west side) 6/73 Pear Tree Farmhouse GV II House, sometime 3 cottages. C17 or earlier; altered C18-eCl9 and mid C20. Red brick, part painted, with tile hanging, in part on ragstone base. Probable timber framed core. Plain tiled roof. An irregular accretion of 2 separate cottages joined by later linking blocks, all of varying dates. Main block:2 storeys on plinth, tile hung on 1st floor, with hipped roof stepped up to right and stacks to centre right and to right. Three glazing bar sashes on 1st floor, and glazing bar sash, top hung casement, tripartite wooden casement and old metal casement on ground floor, with boarded door to right. Door of 6 panels to left return with segmental head and glazing bar sash over, (this left end bay an addition to the 3 bay main block). Hipped 1 and 2 storey wings to rear in ragstone and tile hanging over painted brick. Interior: large inglenook in main block (otherwise not seen).
