Description
Pear Tree Farmhouse is a house that was once three cottages, dating from the 17th century or earlier, with alterations made in the 18th century to the early 19th century and again in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of red brick, some of which is painted, and features tile hanging, partly resting on a ragstone base. It likely has a timber-framed core and is topped with a plain tiled roof.
The structure is an irregular combination of two separate cottages connected by later additions of varying dates. The main block is two storeys high, set on a plinth, with tile hanging on the first floor. The roof is hipped and steps up to the right, with chimney stacks positioned at the centre right and to the right. On the first floor, there are three glazing bar sash windows, while the ground floor features a glazing bar sash window, a top hung casement, a tripartite wooden casement, and an old metal casement, alongside a boarded door to the right. To the left of the main block, there is a six-panel door with a segmental head and a glazing bar sash window above, which is an addition to the three-bay main block.
At the rear, there are hipped wings of one and two storeys, constructed of ragstone with tile hanging over painted brick. The interior includes a large inglenook in the main block, although other interior details were not observed.
