Description
Windmill Cottage is a house that was originally three cottages, dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century and later. It features a rubble stone plinth with some thin brickwork above, and includes some timber framing that is partly rendered, particularly in the cross wing to the right and in the left gable. The rest of the building has been rebuilt in red and vitreous brick, with the first floor of the center bay displaying a pattern of vertical strips of red brick. There is a partial first floor band course and dentil eaves. The roof is covered with old tiles and is half-hipped over the cross wing. A thin brick chimney is located between the left bays, and there is another small brick chimney on the right wing. The building is L-shaped, with the right bay projecting to the front. It has two storeys and three bays, featuring 20th-century wooden casements with three and four lights. A 20th-century door is situated between the left bays, and there is a boarded door with a segmental head in the left return wall of the right bay. Additionally, there is a small brick extension to the left.
