Description

This is an early 19th-century range of buildings, numbered 13 to 17 Portland Road. Number 13 has been redesigned later in the 19th century with a cement facade and a gable, and features an old tiled roof. It has two storeys and one window, with a small, ground-floor bay window retaining its original glazing bars. A hood moulding is above the first-floor window. The door is set within a fluted frame, topped with a projecting cornice, and features a low, rectangular fanlight above a six-panelled, moulded door. Number 15 is a three-storey building constructed of brown brick, with a renewed hipped tiled roof and a modillion cornice. It has two sash windows with intact glazing bars, and a matching doorcase with a fluted frame, projecting cornice, low fanlight, and six-panelled, moulded door. Number 17 is the rear elevation of number 13 Dymchurch Road and is two storeys high, fronted with weatherboarding, and has a hipped slate roof. The windows retain their glazing bars. Number 13 to 17 (odd) Portland Road form a group with numbers 13 to 17 (odd) Dymchurch Road.
