Description
Number 2 Clifton Crescent is a building dating from around 1860, featuring three storeys, attics, and a basement, all finished in stucco. It has an irregular plan and a hipped slate roof with five pedimented dormers. The eaves are adorned with a bracket cornice.
The front elevation includes two windows and a three-light canted bay window, while the side elevation has another three-light canted bay and one additional window. The windows are vertically aligned, except for the ground floor. The second-floor windows are set within cambered architraves that have keystones, and the first-floor windows are framed by round-headed architraves, also with keystones. Many of the ground floor windows feature cornices and console brackets.
Additionally, the front elevation has some stone balustrading beneath the first-floor windows. There is a cast iron balcony at ground level, and to the right side, a tent-shaped canopy and verandah with a corrugated iron roof. The doorcase is flanked by four plain pilasters and features a central four-panelled door with narrow lights on either side. Access to the street is provided by a flight of stone steps.
This building is part of a group that includes numbers 2 to 22 (even) on Clifton Crescent.
