Description
This is an early 18th-century circular fountain located about 30 metres southeast of the Kitchen Garden at Waldershare Park. The fountain features a stone bowl and rim that measures approximately 12 feet across, supported by a central stone columnar base with a plinth decorated with acanthus motifs. The urn or statue that once sat on the plinth is now missing. The fountain is surrounded by a small circular enclosure, which can be accessed by four flights of three brick steps, each with low side piers positioned at opposite points of the circle. The fountain is included for its group value as it serves as the focal point of the formal walk leading from Waldershare Park through a large avenue, past wrought iron gates, and into the walled enclosure known as the Kitchen Garden.
