Description

This is an 18th-century building of three storeys located on the south side of Strand Street. It is constructed of red brick and features five windows. A painted wooden cornice runs above the second floor, with a stringcourse marking the divisions between the ground and first floors. The building is topped with a brick parapet, and the original glazing bars remain intact in the windows above the ground floor. An early 19th-century doorway is characterised by pilasters, a projecting cornice, and a rectangular fanlight. The roof is tiled and hipped. Number 55 forms a group with numbers 47 to 57 (odd) and boundary walls associated with numbers 29 to 35 (odd) and with number 38 Bowling Street.
