Description

This is a row of four headstones located about 5 to 10 metres northwest of the Church of St. Nicholas. The headstones commemorate John Gardner, who died in 1746, and stands about 3 feet high with a moulded head featuring a cherub and palm fronds. Thomas Gardner, who died in 1711, also stands about 3 feet high and has a scrolled pediment with a winged death's head. Edmond Jones, who died in 1740, is represented by a headstone about 1½ feet high with a scrolled pediment head. Lastly, Matthew Jones, the son of Edmond Jones, died in 1756 and has a headstone about 3 feet high, featuring heavy scrolled shoulders, a winged cherub head, and a full figure angel with a trumpet.
