Description
Ripple Windmill is a windmill dating from the late 18th century, which was rebuilt in 1807. It features weatherboarding on a tarred brick base and stands two storeys tall with a wooden smock above. The upper row of cogs on the smock remains, but the sweeps, cap, and fan are all missing. Access is provided by a boarded door that is recessed in an octagonal base platform built around the mill site. Originally constructed at Drellingore, near Hawkinge, it was re-erected in its current location in 1807. The windmill was used for milling until the 1930s and is now functioning as a television relay station.
