Description

Fairway is a house, now converted into flats, dating from the early 20th century and built in the Queen Anne style. The exterior is of red brick with a plain tiled roof. The house has two storeys and an attic, built on a plinth, with projecting wings on either side, featuring rusticated brick quoins. A moulded eaves cornice runs along the top, above a hipped roof with four large stacks on the left and right sides, and five flat-roofed dormers. The windows are arranged regularly; the first floor has nine glazing bar sashes, with a tripartite window at the centre, all with segmentally headed tops and keystones. The ground floor has eight glazing bar sashes, and a central panelled door with a rectangular fanlight and a large shell hood supported by enriched brackets. A rear elevation features two single-storey bay windows. The design may be attributable to either Sir Reginald Blomfield or Paul Phipps.
