Description

Streetend House is a house from the early 18th century that was altered and extended in the early 19th century. It is built of red brick laid in Header Bond, featuring contrasting red brick details and a plain tiled roof. The structure consists of two parallel ranges, standing two storeys high with an attic on a plinth. It has a moulded plat band and a projecting moulded brick cornice, with a parapet on the roof that has kneelered gables. There are three dormers; the central one has a segmental pediment, while the outer two are pedimented. Stacks are located at the rear left and rear right of the house. The roof has inappropriate terracotta ridge tiles.

The house has a regular arrangement of windows, with three sash windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, all featuring gauged heads. The central door consists of six raised and fielded panels, topped by a two-light rectangular fanlight, and is approached by two moulded steps. It has a large pedimented surround supported by attached Doric columns. On the left return, there is a single-storey elliptical bay. The 19th-century rear range mimics the earlier range.

Surrounding the garden to the front and sides of the main range is a garden wall, which dates from the same period as the 19th-century additions. This wall is about two feet high and features two-tier cast iron gates on the north and south sides of the walled areas, with ramped rails and twisted uprights.
