Description
This is a row of cottages, originally part of a brewery complex, dating from the early 18th century and the mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed of painted brick, with plain tiled roofs, and the left-hand projecting wing is of painted render. The right-hand section, dating to the 18th century, features pilaster strips, a projecting plat band above the ground-floor windows, and a brick eaves cornice. It has four segmental-headed sash windows on the first floor and three on the ground floor. There are two 6-panel doors within the re-entrant wing. The left-hand section, dating to the mid-19th century, has a large fascia plat and a corbelled cornice. It features four segmental-headed sash windows on the first floor, each with a keyed head, and two tripartite sashes on the ground floor, with half-glazed panelled doors to the left. The left-hand wing has quoins and glazing bar sashes, and three chimney stacks. Internally, the right-end wing and attached range display moulded ceiling joists. The group value of the cottages is recognized, and they are included on the list for this reason.
