Description

Watercress Cottages is a pair of cottages dating to the 17th century. The cottages are rendered and have a plain tiled roof. The building has an L-shape, suggesting at least two phases of construction. They stand on a plinth with a plat band marking the line of the gabled roof. Stacks are located at the rear left, projecting and offset to the left, and with a stepped roofline rising to the right, terminating in a stack at the end right. There is one wooden casement window on each floor to the left, and one to each floor to the right. A glazed porch with a half-glazed door is centrally positioned, and another glazed door sits within a raking porch to the right. The left return has two horizontally sliding sash windows, and two wooden casements, along with a horizontally sliding sash on the ground floor.
