Description
Wingham Well House is a house dating from the 15th century, with a 19th-century extension. It features a timber frame with exposed close-studding and plaster infill set on a flint base, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building has a Wealden plan and consists of two storeys and a basement, with jettied wings on both the left and right sides supported by dragon posts. It has a flying wall plate, coving, and a large central bracket supporting a hipped roof with gablets and a stack projecting from the left end. There is a small window inserted into the coving, and each floor has three leaded wooden casements with three lights, along with a casement opening to the right and remnants of a two-tier hall window in the centre. The entrance features a rib and stud door set in a moulded surround. At the rear, there is a mid-19th-century wing with applied timber decoration.
