Description

This is an early 19th century terrace of shops and offices located on the south-west side of High Street. The terrace comprises eleven buildings, numbered 71 to 81. It is constructed of brown brick with four storeys and a basement. The buildings have stone coping to the parapets, with a single sash window and one blank window on each floor, retaining some original glazing bars. Numbers 71, 77, 79, and 81 each have a three-light canted bay window on the first floor. Most of the doorcases feature cornices and console brackets above the doors. Numbers 73 and 75 have doorways with rounded heads, approached by flights of steps with cast iron railings. A decorative cast iron railing fronts the forecourt. The buildings form a group with numbers 67 to 105 (odd).
