Description

This is a circa 1840 building comprised of three storeys and a basement, located on London Road. The exterior features brown brickwork above a stuccoed base. The end window bays project slightly, and a cornice and parapet top the façade. There are five windows in total. The first-floor centre window is set within a stuccoed reveal and framed by an architrave. The ground floor windows are round-headed and retain their original glazing bars. A porch with fluted Ionic columns leads to the entrance via a double flight of eight steps, which are shaped like a mounting block and include an iron handrail. A solid stuccoed parapet sits between the columns. The entrance doors are six-panelled, moulded, and have semi-circular fanlights above them. A two-storey extension with one window is situated to the south. Nos. 279 to 319 form a group.
