Description

York House is a building dating from around 1840, situated on the southwest side of London Road. It is three storeys high, with a basement and attics, constructed of brown brick. The roof is a hipped mansard style, featuring two dormers. The building has a parapet and a dropped moulded eaves cornice. Notable architectural features include a two-light curved bow on all floors, with the first floor boasting a cast iron balcony. The right side of the building has an elliptical doorcase that is accessed by a flight of steps with cast iron railings. York House is part of a group that includes Nos 279 to 319, which are consecutive.
