Description

No 287 on London Road was originally built as a Methodist Chapel in 1839. The building is covered in stucco and features Doric pilasters on either side of the front. It has a cornice and a parapet, along with two high windows that still have their glazing bars intact. The entrance has a projecting porch, which includes an Ionic column and a pilaster on each side, topped with a pediment. This porch is accessed by a wide flight of steps and features large double doors with six molded panels. Inside, there is a gallery supported by slender columns. Nos 279 to 319 on London Road form a group with this building.
