Description
This listing describes a tomb chest, vault, and headstone located about 2 and 5 metres north of the Church of St. Nicholas. The tomb chest is dedicated to William Hild, a Pilot of Deal, who died in 1674, along with members of his family who passed away by 1696. It is made of red brick and features a plinth on a barrel vaulted and partially rendered vault. The top slab is made of moulded marble and includes an inscription. The headstone commemorates William Salmon, who died in 1713. It stands about 3 feet high and has heavily scrolled shoulders adorned with a death's head motif.
