Description
Sholden Hall is a house built in 1804 for the Wyborn family of Hull Place, with some mid-19th century alterations. It features painted brick construction and a slate roof, which has been extended with rendered brick. The building is two storeys high and has a parapet above a hipped roof, topped with a central octagonal glass lantern and chimney stacks on the left and end left sides. The main block has a regular arrangement of windows, with three sash windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, along with a central door that has six moulded raised and fielded panels and a rectangular fanlight set in a coved surround with a Doric porch. To the left, the house has been extended with two blocks, each containing three sash windows on both floors. There is also a two-storey bow on the right side, featuring cast iron balustrading. Inside, the house includes a 19th-century stair and entrance hall with a staircase in the style of the 17th century, featuring splat balusters in an open well and moulded square piers. The interior retains plaster cornices and ceiling roses, as well as moulded fireplaces.
