Description
No 1 on London Road is a late 18th-century building that stands three storeys tall and is constructed of red brick. It features a hipped roof covered with old tiles and has stone coping. The façade includes four sash windows with intact glazing bars and two string courses. The first-floor windows are adorned with wrought iron balconettes that have lyre designs. At the base, there is a plinth. The entrance is framed by a doorcase that has an open pediment supported by two Tuscan three-quarter columns. Above the entrance is a semi-circular fanlight with glazing bars, and the door itself is a six-panelled design with panelled reveals. There are two stone steps leading up to the door, and a footscraper is present. This building, along with Nos 1 to 15 and the paving and cobbles in front of them, forms a group with Nos 1 and 3 Whitstable Street.
