Description

Nos 8 and 9, Castle Street, date from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. They consist of two parallel ranges of three storeys, built of brick and finished with a tiled roof. The facades have five window spaces, with the central bays blank. The original glazing bars are intact. Horizontal stringcourses run along the facades. The doorcase to No 8 features a rectangular fanlight and panelled reveals, protecting an 8-panelled door and a footscraper. No 9 has a shopfront dating to the late 19th century. Nos 8 and 9 are part of a group of properties that includes Nos 1 to 9 and Nos 12 to 24, Castle Street.
