Description
No. 69 Castle Street is an early 19th century front added to a 16th century house. It is a three-storey building made of painted brick, topped with an old tiled roof and featuring a modillion eaves cornice. The façade includes three sash windows with intact glazing bars set in moulded architraves. The doorcase has a rectangular fanlight, fluted pilasters, and a six-panelled door, with one step and a footscraper. There is also a rainwater head. Inside, the building boasts an early 18th century staircase that has two spiral balusters on each tread, scrolled tread ends, and a newel post. Nos. 68 to 77 and Nos. 80 to 82 form a group with this property.
