Description

This is an early 19th-century terrace of houses, altered since its original construction. The buildings are two storeys and have attics, built of yellow brick with a slate roof and three dormers. A parapet runs along the top, finished with stone coping. Numbers 3 and 5 have recessed panels. Each of numbers 3 and 5 has two sash windows with original glazing bars; a blank panel sits between them. Number 1 has lost its original glazing bars. Number 7 has a Victorian three-light bay window on the first floor. Number 1 features a simple round-headed doorcase. Number 3, now a signwriter’s shop, has an interesting late Victorian shop front with lettering that reveals the brickwork behind. Numbers 5 and 7 have later shop fronts. Numbers 3A and 5A have recessed doorcases set within an elliptical arch, accentuated by a keystone. They feature double doorcases with six-panelled doors and “Gothick” glazing. Numbers 1 to 7 (odd), including numbers 3A and 5A, form a notable group.
