Description

This is a terrace of houses dating from around 1830, located on St Georges Terrace, Herne Bay. The terrace is stuccoed and stands three storeys high with a basement, including an area. A cornice and parapet are visible above the second and third floors. The houses originally had three windows each, although numbers 7 and 15 have six and nine windows respectively. Iron balconies are present on the first floor, and numbers 7 and 11 feature hoods above the doorways. The majority of the original window glazing bars remain intact. Windows above ground floor level in numbers 1, 2, 3, 8 to 11, 15, 18, 19 and 20 are set within moulded architrave surrounds, with cornices above those on the first floor. The doorcases are similarly framed with moulded architraves, rectangular fanlights, and pilasters with projecting cornices where they are positioned beneath the balconies. Numbers 2, 7 and 15 have porches with Doric columns. Number 15 is one storey lower than the rest of the terrace, and number 18 features a porch with Doric pilasters. Numbers 1 to 15, together with numbers 19 to 21, form a group.
