Description

The undercroft at the entrance to Stonegate Egg Packing Station dates back to the 13th century. It features a spiral staircase on the south side that leads down to a vaulted chamber measuring 17 feet 10 inches by 14 feet 10 inches. This chamber has a sexpartite vault supported by corbels, with a central rose-shaped roof boss and chalk webbing. On the northern (roadside) end, there is a blocked door and side lights, while the southern side has an arched entrance.
