Description

This is an aisled barn, originally built in the 16th century, located 20 yards south of Nine Chimneys in Challock Lees. The barn has been converted into a cottage and is now used as a garage. It features a timber frame with a rubble and brick plinth, topped by a plain tile hipped roof. The exterior displays exposed close studding and curved tension bracing, along with a hipped mid-strey. Inside, there are four bays with aisles, internal divisions made of 20th-century brick, and a renewed roof. Historical references indicate that it was once described as the gardener's cottage and previously served as a private chapel.
