Description
The Chequers is a mid-19th century alehouse with elements from the 18th century at the rear. It features channeled render and a plain tile roof. The building is two storeys high with a hipped roof, which has two stacks located on the left and at the rear right. The first floor has a regular arrangement of windows, consisting of two tripartite sashes and a two-light sash in between. On the ground floor, there are two segmental bays with moulded cornices and two central doors; the door on the left is from the 19th century and has a flat hood, while the one on the right is from the 20th century. The rear elevation displays tile hanging and is constructed with an 18th-century timber frame.
