Description
The Toll House, also known as The Royal House, is a mid-19th century brick building featuring a slate roof. It has a two-storey octagonal shape with a two-storey wing on the west side, both topped with hipped slate roofing. The red brick walls are laid in Flemish bond and include deep eaves with a chamfered top and stepped fascias. A band runs through the middle of the upper floor, interrupted by openings, and there is a deep first-floor fascia with a chamfered band above it. The building features rubbed flat arches and a plinth. The windows are modern metal casements.
At the front, there is a brick porch with a pediment and a keystone above a cambered arch, although the doorway is now filled in. The west end has a smaller porch, also with a pediment. Additionally, there is a modern flat-roofed single-storey extension on the north side.
