Description
Arle House is a house that dates from the 17th, 18th, and early 19th centuries. It is constructed of brick and has a tile roof. The front of the house, which faces east, is two stories tall with an attic and features six windows. The red brick is laid in Flemish bond, with a blue header band at the first floor and rubbed flat arches over the ground-floor windows. There is a plinth at the base. The windows are sashes set within architraves.
The early 19th-century doorcase, located at the third bay, has an open pediment and a broken cornice supported by carved brackets. It also features thin panelled pilasters, panelled reveals, and a six-panelled door, two of which are glazed at the top. There is a plain doorway on the north side, at the sixth bay, which has a solid frame and a half-glazed door.
The rear of the house is older and features timber-framing, a shafted stack, and a catslide roof. The north wall has flint at the base of the gable, with English bond brickwork above, which continues westward in Flemish bond with blue headers. There are 20th-century features and extensions at the rear.
