Description
Southbrook House is a 16th-century timber-framed house featuring a cross wing. It has undergone significant alterations and extensions in the early and mid-19th century. The walls are stuccoed, with some areas of exposed frame, painted brickwork, and tile-hanging. The roof is tiled. The east front is irregular, with a gabled wing that projects from the south side. The house has two storeys and an attic, with one attic window above three regular windows. The windows are casements, and there is a plain doorway beneath a gabled canopy supported by brackets.
The west elevation, which faces the garden, was remodeled in the early 19th century. It features a tall gable on the north side above a two-storey half-hexagonal bay, along with a 'Tudor' porch that has an arch flanked by narrow openings. The bay has small castellations, and some windows are adorned with hoodmoulds. The elevation includes tall casements and French doors, with a half-glazed door set within an architrave inside the porch. There are also minor single-storey wings at the north end.
