Description

Newdown Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse constructed of brick, which has been colour washed, with a plain tiled roof and rendered brick stacks. The building comprises a front range with a parallel range behind, and a wing to the left side of these at the far end. The front range is two storeys with an attic and basement, and has a symmetrical three-bay design. The central entrance features a mid-18th century six-panel door within a stucco surround, topped by a plain segmental fanlight. A timber Doric porch stands in front of the door. Large 19th-century twelve-pane sash windows with Dutch arches are located on either side of the entrance. Above these are three regular nine-pane sashes, also with Dutch arches. The roof is hipped with overhanging eaves, and includes three 19th-century tile-hung dormers. The central dormer has a two-light casement window, while the outer dormers each have a three-light casement. Two stacks are symmetrically positioned behind the ridge.
