Description
The Homestead is a house that was once a public house, dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made at the rear in the late 19th century. It is constructed of brick and tile. The front, facing south, has two storeys and three windows. The hipped roof features brick dentil eaves. The walls are primarily built in Flemish bond, with some lower panels made of painted flint. The west wall is characterized by horizontal flint panels, brick quoins, and three equally spaced verticals, along with a plinth. At the rear, there is an older, smaller block, slightly angled, which was reconstructed in the mid-19th century using flint and brick but still retains a vertical oak beam that is a remnant of an earlier building. The ground-floor casements are arranged in groups of five within rounded bays, each topped with hipped tile roofs. The boarded door, set in a plain frame, is located within a splayed wood porch from around 1900, which features side windows, an open front, and a hipped tile roof.
