Description

The stables at Upton House, dating from the 18th century, are constructed from brick and feature old plain tile roofs. They are arranged in a triangular courtyard and consist of three stable blocks, one of which has been converted into a house, while another is partially converted into a dwelling. The complete block has six bays with blue header brickwork and a rounded right corner. A garage is located in the second bay from the right, formed under a wide brick arch of the stable. The stables in the next two bays include a door with a window to the side, both situated under a brick arch. The garage occupies the left two bays and has large doors supported by a steel lintel. Above the left bays, there is a dentilated pediment featuring a hay-loft door. The eaves are also dentilated, and the hipped roof has a wrought iron fox weathervane on the right hip. Behind the courtyard, there is a 19th-century stable block.
