Description

The Peninsular Barracks Weapons Training Shed, now used as Instruction Rooms, was built between 1899 and 1904. It features red brick walls with Portland Stone dressings and a slated roof. The building has a rectangular plan and an open west front that faces the parade ground. The interior was partitioned in the mid-20th century. Notable architectural details include stone pilasters with channelled rustication at the corners and gables designed as open pediments with keyed oculi. The front has 13 bays, with a continuous fascia supported by 10 cast iron columns, which are flanked by brick walls that define the end bays.
