Description

WICKHAM THE SQUARE: NORTH WEST SIDE SU 5711 10/7 Knockers Wine Bar and M S Bell (formerly listed as Old 6.3.67 Curiosity shop) GV II*

Restaurant and (part ground-floor) office. C16 timber frame, C19 cladding. The front wall is jettied, the upper part roughcast and the lower rendered, with some posts and curved brackets, other walls of brickwork in Flemish bond with blue headers, and tile-hung north gable. Tile roof, half-hipped at the north side, catslide at rear. South-east front of two storeys and attic three above two windows. Casements, two ground-floor splayed bays. Two plain doorways. The frame is exposed inside, and in an upper room there remain C16 wall paintings, of floral/geometric patterns; paintings on the underside of the same room are hidden by (fireproof) plaster board.
