Description

The Gables and The Croft are a house, originally one dwelling, now divided into two separate properties. The core of The Gables dates back to the 18th century, with extensions added in the mid-19th century and late 19th century to both parts of the building. The walls are primarily constructed of brickwork, featuring blue headers with red dressings, and include examples of both Flemish Garden Wall bond and Flemish bond bricklaying techniques. Some gables are tile-hung, with scalloped bands, and the roof is tiled, with a hipped section above a forward extension.

The Gables presents a symmetrical, two-story, three-window southeast facade. It has upper sash windows and lower casement windows. The front door is framed by a cornice on pilasters, leading to a six-panelled door. The westward extension, known as The Croft, has an irregular layout, with a projecting two-story, two-window front wing featuring sash windows. At the rear, the building exhibits four gables of varying sizes, set on two different planes, along with single-story gabled service wings. The Croft is included in the listing primarily for its contribution to the group value of the properties.
