Description
Upper Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that was encased in the 18th century and enlarged in the early 20th century. It features a timber-frame core with bands of brick and flint, reused stone, and brick dressings, topped with an old plain tile roof. The building is two stories high with an attic and consists of three bays plus a smoke/passage bay, with a 20th-century wing added to the rear on the left side facing the farmyard.
The entrance is located to the right of the center and includes a stack to its right, with a 19th-century four-panel door beneath a 19th-century timber trellis porch that has a tented lead roof. To the left of the door is a 19th-century two-light casement window, with another similar window above it. There are two 19th-century four-light casements with a string course along the tops. Above the left casement, there is a reset carved stone cherub's head, and above the other windows, there is a rendered panel below a 19th-century three-light casement, with a similar feature above the door. The roof is half-hipped to the right, with a large stack at the left end and a small gabled dormer above the door, along with a ridge stack to the right of it.
