Description

Lower Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century, with a cross-wing added in the 17th century and refronted in the 18th century. It was restored in 1969. The building features a timber frame that is encased and extended in brick with blue headers, topped by an old plain tile roof.

The farmhouse consists of a three-bay 16th-century structure with a 17th-century cross-wing. There is a stack on the side wall of the central bay, along with a continuous outshot from the cross-wing on this side. The garden front is two storeys high and has three bays, with an 18th-century outshot at the left end.

To the right of the centre, there are 20th-century French windows in the original doorway, while a 19th-century door has been relocated to the other side. There is one 20th-century cross-window to the right and three more to the left, all set in older openings with segmental heads. Ground floor posts support a first-floor verandah. On the first floor, there are three cross-windows, French windows, and a two-light casement window on the left. The roof is hipped and sweeps down to the left.

Inside, the central room features a 17th-century fireplace, ornately moulded ceiling beams, and much of the frame is exposed.
