Description
Thatched Cottage is a cottage with origins in the 17th century, remodelled in the early 19th century. It was formerly two dwellings. The core of the building is timber-frame, now encased in flint with brick bands and dressings, topped with a thatched roof. The original three-bay and smoke/passage bay 17th-century structure was extended to the right with a bay in the early 19th century, and a weatherboarded store was added to the left. The garden front is 1½ storeys and four bays. The cottage has 19th-century planked doors, including a baffle entry between the left bays, and a 19th-century three-light casement in the right centre bay. All openings have cambered heads. Above the left bays are three one-light casements set within eyebrow dormers. The roof is hipped and sweeps down to the left. There is a ridge stack above the left door and at the right end.
