Description
Numbers 4 and 6 on Bell Street are 18th-century buildings that stand two stories tall with an attic. The exterior is made of painted brick and features raised strings below the first-floor window sills and a cornice. The eaves cornice is moulded and coved. The hipped roof is covered with old tiles and has two flat-roofed dormers. The first floor includes six windows, two of which are blocked. There is a sash window with flush boxes and intact glazing bars, along with painted carved voussoirs. The ground floor has a continuous 19th-century shop front; the southern section, dating from around 1840, is particularly attractive with arched lights and a frieze, topped by a moulded and bracketed cornice. The buildings were likely originally two separate houses.
