Description
1 Corn Market is part of the same building as No 10 Bell Street and has a similar front. It dates from the early to mid 19th century and is three storeys high with one window bay. The roof is slate, and the building is constructed of painted brick. There is one square sash window on the first floor and a flat-headed sash window on the second floor, which is set in reveals beneath a segmental arch with painted voussoirs. The shop front features three lights and a doorway to the west, flanked by pilasters that match those next to the shop windows at No 10 Bell Street. There is a similar entablature above. This building forms a group with Nos 10 and 12 Bell Street, and all the listed buildings in Corn Market and Market Place form a group.
