Description
Corn Market Chambers is an early 19th-century building located on Corn Market at the west end. It is two storeys high with an attic and features a slate roof, including one hipped dormer. The building is constructed of painted brick and has a two-light casement window on the first floor, which is framed by a segmental headed architrave. The ground floor showcases an early to mid-19th-century shop front on the north-west side, consisting of three lights with rounded heads and slender columnar shafts. Immediately to the south of the shop front is a door with two flush panels and an upper part that is glazed, featuring margin lights. Both the door and window are flanked by slender pilasters and are incorporated under the same entablature, which includes a moulded frieze, cornice, and flat hood above, along with a small advertisement board positioned above. All the buildings in Corn Market and Market Place are recognized as a group.
