Description

The buildings at 5 and 7 Bell Street date from the early 19th century. They are a three-storey structure built of brick, with a stone capping to the parapet. The front elevation is similar in design to number 3 Bell Street. The upper floors each contain two windows, which are sash windows set in shallow brick reveals with flat arches. The window glazing has been altered. Rubbed brick voussoirs are visible. The ground floor features a pair of shop fronts, originally united by a plain frieze and cornice. Each shop front contains glazed doors. The shop window of number 7 has been altered, with original angle pilasters replaced by modern ones of polished wood. A deep, modern fascia now covers the original fascia and fanlight above the doorway, although the original cornice remains. Numbers 3 to 15 (odd) form a group.
