Description

The fountain located before the main entrance to the Corn Exchange was built in 1886. It is a tall rectangular marble block with a shaped head. On the east side, there is a circular marble bowl and trough, while on the west side, a small semi-circular basin is mounted on a columned shaft with a lead spout above it. An inscription on the supporting block states that the fountain was given to the inhabitants of Romsey Municipal Borough by Lord Mount-Temple in July 1886. Currently, both the small and larger basins are used for growing flowers. This fountain is part of a group of listed buildings in Corn Market and Market Place.
