Description

Cromwell’s Seat is an early 19th-century garden seat situated 400 metres east-northeast of Embley House, within Embley Park. It marks the end of a long walk that extends from the front of the house into the adjacent woodland. The seat is semicircular and constructed of solid brick with stone dressings. It features a stone top and a brick back with a stone coping. The ends of the seat have stone console brackets on the inside edge. It is recorded that Florence Nightingale frequently used the seat.
