Description
Longdown Cottage is an early 19th-century cottage ornée. It is constructed of stuccoed brick with attached rustic timber tree trunks and has a thatched roof. The main two-storey, two-bay block has a polygonal end to one bay, and a one-and-a-half-storey, one-bay wing attached to the side of this bay. A single-storey wing, dating to the 20th century, is attached to the side of this wing. The front has a wing in front of the left bay, featuring a two-light casement on its end. To the right is a longer, single-storey wing constructed of brick and tile. A two-light, pointed casement is located on the left side of this wing. At the end of the left bay of the main block is a polygonal end. The first face of the polygonal end has a pointed French window with a two-light casement above. Hood moulds are present over most windows, and full-height rustic tree trunks are positioned between the bays and faces of the polygonal end. The roof is hipped at the left polygonal end. A wide stack is located on the front above the wing. The wing has a half-hipped roof.
